The Peppermill is a Vegas institution which opened in 1972. It’s been featured in many films, Casino, Showgirls and The Cotton Club. And even Elvis was a regular during his Vegas residency.
I’d heard of it, read about it, and must have been past it a hundred times, but had never visited. It’s been on my list for a while and I went there on my 27th Vegas visit in February 2023. I just missed out on it’s 50th anniversary last year.
It’s located in the north strip, down past the Wynn and right opposite Resorts World. While hotels around it have been imploded in that part of the strip, the Peppermill has been the contant. It fact it’s probably more prominent now, since the opening of Resorts World.
It’s a bit of a hike to walk too, but there’s a bus stop right putside or it’s a short taxi ride from any hotel in the centre strip. Although you might need a walk afterwards, given the portion sizes!
It’s part diner and part fireside lounge. So both daytime visits and nightime visits are catered for. I opted for brunch in the diner. The interior is about as Vegas as it gets, with a mirrorball ceiling, neon and fake trees. The tables are all curved booths, all facing in different directions. You even get that rainbow-coloured sugar in a retro sugar shaker, I’ve not seen that since the 70s!
As you would expect from a diner in Vegas, the service is efficient, friendly and quick. And portions are big.

The menu is extensive so there is something for everyone. I went for the garden omelet. It was fresh, delicious and served with a side of the house hash browns. With most of the breakfasts you also get a choice of toast, bagel or an English, blueberry or lemon and cranberry muffin. I went bagel and cream cheese, toasted to perfection.

You could also go with the three egg breakfast as another veggie-friendly option. But don’t worry there’s plenty for the meat eaters too, with bacon, sausage and steaks in various combinations on the menu. We were just trying to keep it as a light as possible, to not be too full for the day ahead.

The Peppermill is a proper slice of old Vegas. It’s a place you need to visit for that reason, and the great food and service.
I certainly won’t be leaving it another 27 visits before I’m back and next time I want to try the lounge and cocktails!
